which is accessible by a walk along the river Strathy or just a short
drive by car. Saunter down to the Strathy Point Lighthouse where a wealth
of marine life can be seen including whales, dolphins and seals, as well
as a variety of flowers including the rare Scottish Primrose. |

Set amidst the vast peat bogs of the Flow Country (an internationally important habitat for birds, plants and insects), the area offers a diverse variety of things to see and do. Locally, there are visitor centres for the Highland Clearances, Mackay Clan museums and the RSPB Forsinard Centre with it's wildlife displays and guided walks. The area is well known for fly fishing with salmon and wild brown trout all being caught in the local lochs and rivers. For those who enjoy a round of Golf, an 18-hole course at Reay is just a few miles away and welcomes visitors. Surfing and Wind Surfing can be attempted in some of the best surf in Europe including Strathy beach. Walking, Hillwalking, Pony Trekking, and Quad Biking can all be found in the area as well as off-road biking in Strathy Forest. |
